Rejected normally refers to products that failed the Quality Control process in the main factory and in our case the rejected bags we take in are normally due to slight flaws in measurements, we handpick them from the cargo to avoid selling rejected items that the defects are too visible

Coco Chanel

The launch of the first Coco Chanel handbag in 1955 marked the beginning of a fashion revolution. Coco had retired in 1939, and had been written off by most in the industry. Her perfumes could still be bought at Chanel outlets, but she had stopped making any new designs, and had effectively retired from the fashion business. When she made her comeback at the age of 71, and introduced the innovative and hugely popular Coco Chanel handbag, her success was thus all the more remarkable.

The purse that would turn the fashion world on its head was a quilted one, but it was not the material that made it such a unique phenomenon. For the first time in fashion history, a woman’s handbag now had a chain shoulder strap on it. No longer did a woman have to hold her purse in her hands. Instead, she was free to sling it over her shoulders and use her hands however she pleased. This purse was thus, in a sense, empowering.

Coco Chanel’s designs were all about simplicity and functionality, but with a classic sense of style. This ourse was meant to reflect this philosophy. In its first year, this purse became so popular that the designer had to refuse many of the requests for orders that hade been made to her. After all, the high quality and fine craftsmanship that she insisted upon for all of her products meant that it was a painstaking process to manufacture each individual one.

In little time, her signature Coco Chanel handbag was being copied all around the world. It became known throughout the industry as the Chanel 2.55 after the month and the year it was introduced. Today, variations of the Coco Chanel handbag remain as sought after as they were fifty years ago. The 2006 Luxury Line, with its metal chain embedded in leather, was one of the most anticipated Coco Chanel handbags of the year.

The enormous brand power of Chanel is such that it has inspired entire lines of fake – and much cheaper – purses, complete with the now famous double-C logo, in countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, and China. The History Of PRADA

Mario Prada started the Prada label in 1913. He designed and sold handbags, shoes, trunks, and suitcases though two boutiques in Milan, and had clients across Europe and the US. When the signature Prada suitcases, made from heavy, cumbersome walrus skin, proved to be ill suited for air travel, Prada concentrated on designing exquisite leather accessories and waterproof handbags.

In 1978, Mario’s granddaughter, Miuccia Prada, took over the company. Miuccia was a former mime who had spent five years studying at Milan’s Teatro Piccolo, and had a PhD in political science. Although her qualifications didn’t seem appropriate, her sense of fashion was unmistakable. The label was still mainly a leather goods manufacturer at that point, and had been struggling financially for several years. Competition from other fashion houses like Gucci had taken its toll. Miuccia turned things around and steered the House of Prada towards the world of haute couture.

About the same time as she took the helm of the Prada label, Miuccia married Patrizio Bertelli. Bertelli took on the role of business manager, allowing Miuccia to focus on designing and perfecting the new Prada look.

Miuccia had been making black waterproof backpacks since 1970, out of a nylon fabric called “Pocone”. She unveiled the classic Prada handbag - simple, sleek, black nylon – in 1985 and became an overnight sensation. The bag was functional and sturdy, practical and fashionable. The high price tag that accompanied the handbags caused an onslaught of designer knock-offs, which only helped to make the genuine Prada articles more in demand.

In the 1980’s, other labels were creating designs that played on sexuality. Frilly, lacy, brightly colored garments that were low cut on top and short on the bottom were popular. Prada hit the runway in 1989 with its prêt-a-porter collection, with elegant, simple pieces featuring clean lines, luxurious fabrics, and basic colors. The fashion world took notice, and Prada’s popularity skyrocketed.

By the 1990’s, Prada was a leading force in fashion. The garments and accessories were smart, sophisticated, and extremely high quality. Luxurious fabrics and simple styles, mostly in blacks, browns, grays, greens, and creams, became the signature Prada look. The apparel was sexy and spoke of confidence without revealing too much skin. Accessories included skinny leather belts, elegant high heeled shoes, and of course, the classic handbag.

The following year, in 1993, Prada received the Council of Fashion Designers of America award for accessories.
